As we begin to move well past the first twenty years since the introduction of DVD discs and even longer for CDs, most of us will have collected together quite large amounts of data stored on them.
With the onset of inevitable disc scratching on these collections through constant use we should all begin to look at the issues of preservation and data recovery.
Many scratched DVD discs or other discs can now simply be replaced at minimal cost and this holds true for CDs and game discs as well.
In reality there is an ever growing catalog of CDs, DVDs and even game discs that are falling out of production and are no longer available. The same goes for your home made discs of digital photographs and personal videos.
