The American Cinema Editors (ACE) breaks up their nominations into several categories.
For Feature Editing Honors (a full length feature film) the nominees are:
The Hurt Locker
Up in the Air
District 9
Star Trek, and
of course, Avatar.
There were some really great editing on several of those films but it would be hard to believe that any movie other than Avatar would win this award since it’s been a booming commercial success — the most successful box office to date, without factoring in inflation. And, one of the most dramatic and interesting parts of the feature is the way the animation and live action is sewn together to create a seamless and enjoyable experience for the viewer and in my opinion one of the best edited movies of all time.
For animation editing the nominees include:
Coraline and Mr. Fox
Up
and for a Musical or Comedy editing there is:
Julie and Julia
The Hangover
It’s Complicated
500 Days of Summer, and
A Serious Man
For documentary film makers the list of finalists for the award include:
The Cove
Food Inc., and Michael Jackson’s documentary following his preparations for the concert that would never be,
This is It.
Congratulations to all of the nominees (it’s an honor just to be nominated ) and good luck. Awards season is just getting underway and a win here could propel the winner onto the red carpet of the academy awards….not that anyone cares about awards!
